Don’t Know Which Mover to Call? Take a Look at Your Moving Needs!

November 23, 2022 | Moving Tips

Choosing a Mover can be hard. It can even be more confusing than it needs to be with all of the various types of moving companies available and the services available amongst them. The following guide will help you differentiate between the different types of movers and how each one can best service your needs.

Before jumping into which movers do what, understanding which type of move you’re about to embark on needs to be done first.

1. Local Move

Local moves are typically moves with a distance of less than 75 miles while remaining within state lines.

2. Intrastate Move

Intrastate moves remain within state lines.

3. Interstate Move

Crossing state lines, no matter how many miles you travel to get there qualifies as an interstate move. 5 miles or 500 hundred miles; if you cross a border to another state, it’s Interstate.

4. International Move

International Moves involve crossing international borders. These moves require special coordination by the moving company.

Now that you have established which type move, you need to choose the service that best meets your needs:

1. Full Service

You won’t even need to lift a finger. Simply stand back and let it all happen before your eyes. Movers will pack, load, deliver, unload and unpack your belongings.

2. Self-Service

With self-service, you do your own packing and then the movers load, deliver and unload your belongings at your new home. You are also responsible for unpacking of your belongings as well.

3. Specialized

For atypical items such as pianos, antiques, wine collections, safes and slate pool tables, specialized moving may be your best bet. Not every full service mover is capable of handling these items so be sure to ask!

4. Commercial

Some Moving Companies specialize in moving businesses and offices. If your home is staying put but your business isn’t, contact professional moving companies who are experienced commercial movers.

Wheaton Worldwide and our agency family can service any move whether it is a local move, intrastate move, or even an international move. We also recommend using a ProMover, as they are certified and licensed to move your possessions.
